Tale of 2 Kala’s…

Left mother of 2 Right mother of 3.
Left hated my body, although I’m smiling pretty unhappy battling depression. Right have been off depression meds for over a year loves herself.
Left lost her dad a little over 3 years prior to a heart attack and was headed in the same direction. Right decided she was going to be happy and healthy, make good choices and be a role model for her children and help others as well.

I did not get to the right picture overnight and I won’t lie and say it was easy. Because it wasn’t. Did I want to give up? Absolutely sometimes I did. Did I have set backs? Yep. But there was always that reason WHY…that I was going to be healthy for my kids that I was not going to be gone before I could see them get married and raise babies. That I refuse to put them through that heart ache.

Being healthy is such a PASSION that I became a Beachbody Coach so I can help others get there. There is so much more to your health than the number on the scale and the size of your jeans. Its very much mental as well as physical. Changing the way you think about yourself can be a complete game changer.

So if you read this long ass post let me ask you… When are you going to make the decision to change your life?


Round 2 Day 2…

What does she mean?! I know I am being mysterious. And a huge dork! Hey Im on Day 2 of The 3 day refresh cut me some slack!

I am def not this happy right now. But I will be lol.If you are wondering, “What the hell is The 3 Day Refresh?” You can go here.

First off, I did not do this to lose weight, I am very happy with where I am currently at. (I can keep improving muscle definition and that is a current goal) The 3 Day Refresh is a great way to jump start weight loss if that is what you are looking for. It will help you reduce cravings. Which is what I needed.

Hello, my name is Kala and I am a coffee addict. We are not talking a cup or 2, we are talking 3+ daily… NO just NO I should be able to function without that much caffeine. I also was laying in bed till 2 staring at the walls… hmmmmm I wonder why???

I also have for some reason been breaking out on my face. Apparently my face did not get the memo that I am 29 and not 13… WEIRD and slightly Annoying.

Like Do I need to write it a note?


So Any Way How are my days so far.

Day One. Went Pretty well did not get overly hungry and was way better when I kept myself distracted, so I worked a lot yesterday… Here’s what my food looked like.

I was also very achy and crashed at like 930. It was not a solid sleep because I was sore. I was cranky in the morning and almost caved and had a slight cheat of coffee. Rest easy I did not. Day 2 got better after I did a little Piyo with Riley.

And we got out of the house. Not hungry which is great and I cant wait for bed. (Side note… I should be going up on St hood any minute for making my family 2 nights in a row without a single cheat. So Yay me!!) Day 2 food..

So I cannot wait to share my results with you all on Thursday!!

Final results! (3 day refresh)

So I know you’re all anxiously awaiting for my results. You are probably all pacing back and forth all night long worrying and wonder how good Kala’s gonna do!


Totally kidding!! But I am pumped to tell you all about my results!!

First let me show you what my food looked like in those 3 days…


Day 1!!



Day 1 was rough! But your basically detoxing! I was hangry and tired! But each day I started to feel better! And now at the end I feel….


Woke up feeling rejuvenated and well rested! I think the last time I felt like that was before I had kids (11.5 years ago). I didn’t feel like I needed coffee I normally drink 2 or 3 gigantic mugs. I had one since its relaxing to me but it was not a necessity today.

So finally what you have all been waiting for…

I dropped 4.4 lbs.
Inches not sure because I forgot to measure but you will see them in the pic!!


I will be doing this cleanse again!! And will be running a group for anyone that wants to try and have support! Starts August 4th! It will be 10 days long you do the 3 day cleanse then we spend a week working in clean eating? (Don’t know what that is?? Don’t worry I’ll make a post about that later.)

Day 2 of the Refresh.

So you all know that I am doing the 3 day Refresh and Day one was kind of rough. I was Hangry. (Hungry + Angry). But determined to not cheat and get through the 3 days.

Its just 3 days and if people can do the awful show Naked and Afraid for 21 I can stick to 3 Measly days!! nakedSeriously I would not want to brave most of these places fully clothed and they do it NAKED!! 3 days of a restricted diet is NOT HARD surviving in the wilderness is…


So anyways back to my cleanse…

Day 2. Started out with me a lil groggy. I did my Piyo workout and had my Meal 1. Shakeology and fruit mixed with water. I still had a headache and it is suggested to not drink coffee. But since most mornings I am an addict to caffeine my cups usually look like this…


and I did not have any day 1 I am thinking that may be why it was so rough.

I snuck in a lil black coffee. (I know I am BAD). But if this is my only steer away from the path it is all good. Plus it is not restricted you are told that …

“Although it is not a requirement , to get the full benefit of the 3-Day Refresh, we SUGGEST that you refrain from drinking coffee for the three days of the program.”

After this I felt amazing. I was full after the meals and all cravings GONE!! I took my kids and nephew to see Maleficent and the movies and they had there snacks and I did not cave. I didn’t even want it, they had chocolate too and Hi my names Kala and I am a chocoholic. Last night I fell asleep faster than I have in a really long time and I slept great! Clear until right before my alarm went off. I slept so good that I did not even realize that my 2 yr old crawled in to bed with me. I feel so well rested and clear headed and well just really DAMN good. I don’t even know what else to say but that. Yesterday morning I weighed in 2.6 lbs. lighter. If that is all I lose then great, because I have not felt this great in a long time.

3 day Refresh!!

So I am awful with cleanses. Because although I eat pretty healthy (most of the time!) Mama likes food!! Well I tried the Shakeology Cleanse that was written by a Coach and I could not last one day!! LAME I know. This is what that looked like…

1 cup of green tea to start the day

1 scoop Shakeology (140 calories)
1/2 cup of fruit (60 to 90 calories)—optional

Ice to taste
8 to10 oz. of water
Snack 1 (85 calories):
1 piece of fruit (apple, pear, orange, banana mango, etc.)

1 scoop Shakeology (140 calories)
Ice to taste
8 to 10 oz. of water
1 cup of green tea or a detox tea

Snack 2: (you can have the second snack before or after dinner)
1 scoop Shakeology (140 calories)
Ice to taste
8 to10 oz. of water

Salad with grilled white fish or poultry (roughly 340 calories)
Greens—3 servings of vegetables, plus 4 oz. of grilled white meat (fish or poultry)
2 tablespoons of dressing—no more!

I could not do more than a day…

Well I went to Summit (this is a big beachbody Convention) and they announced the release of the 3 Day Refresh. This is like the 3 day cleanse but actually tested and backed by beachbody!!


So I of course had to try it!!

The 3 day refresh works as follows…



3 daily shakes, a fiber drink, plenty of filtered water, plus fruits veggies and healthy fats throughout the day to keep your energy and metabolism up.



During the 3 days you



1.wake up and immediately drink 8-12 oz. filtered water


2. within an hr. of waking you have breakfast (shakeology and fruit)


3. mid morning fiber sweep


4. lunch (protein shake, fruit, veggie, and healthy fat)


5. Afternoon snack (fruit, veggie, or juice list)


6. Dinner (protein shake + dinner recipe)



Tea optional throughout the day
