Roasted Sugar Snap Peas

I’ll admit that I am a very picky eater. I know what I like so I tend to stick with that and trying new things sometimes I am just like my 3 year old.

So I cringe when I hear someone say they’re picky so they can’t eat healthy…

Bull shit!

You just don’t want to. If I can do it so can you.

So shopping last week I see a bag of Sugar Snap Peas. I’ll admit I am 29 and have never tried these. So I bought them.

Look At That!!

I tried them raw. They were OK. Not my fave…

Today I had the genius idea of roasting them.

What you need…
1Tbsp olive oil
Seasoning (I used 21 season salute from trader joes)
Sprinkle of sea salt
Sugar snap peas.

Preheat the oven to 400. Drizzle oil on pan add sugar snap peas. Season it all up. Cook in the oven stirring ever 10-25 min till browned.

Amazing…

Peach berry pie

Delish!!

OK what you need…
Pie crust
1/2 bag of frozen peaches
2 cups mixed berries (used strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry)
3 packets stevia
1/4 cup honey
1 tbsp vanilla
1/3 cup cashew meal
1/3 cup oatmeal
2 tbsp melted coconut oil

Preheat the oven to 350. Put the pre-made pie crust in a pie pan.

Mix the fruit, honey, vanilla, and 2 stevia packets. Then pour in pan.

Mix cashew meal, and oats with stevia packet in blender to make oats a flour. Pour over the pie. Then drizzle the coconut oil over.

Bake for 50-60 min. Enjoy!!!

OK. So I debated on sharing this cause sometimes I do just want to keep things to myself. But I feel this is important.

Protect yourself from the sun. Ladies I know you love to have how you look with a tan… But do you know what is better than that?

Your life!

3 things can contribute more to your risk.
1. Fake baking (tanning beds)
2. Sun burning till you blister
3. People with moles have more of a tendency to have cancer prone skin.

If this is you…
Go get your skin checked by a dermatologist.
Should be done yearly unless your Dr tells you differently.

Wear sunscreen.

In the last 2 years I have had 3 biopsies done. This last one on my back. The biopsy came back with abnormal results. Not melanoma thank god. But abnormal cells. Meaning we probably caught it early.

So today I had to have a small chunk of skin removed.

Lesson learned. Hopefully soon enough. I now put sunscreen on when heading outside!

Skipping meals

DO NOT skip meals. This is the biggest mistake people make when trying to lose weight and oddly enough think it actually helps because they are eating fewer calories. Well do you know eating too little is sometimes why your weight will refuse to budge? That your body goes into starvation mode and decides its not going to get rid of anything. I am guilty of doing this in the past. Sometimes even currently. Somedays even though I am home I do not plan as well as I should.

The truth is that skipping meals leaves big gaps of time between meals which allows your blood sugar to drop. This causes you to have cravings…

And what happens when you crave, you likely cheat or over eat when you sit down for your next meal. Then you know what happens? You feel guilty and just give up on healthy eating all together (Just kidding you’re in it for good now right?)

Another thing that is done, you have a glutenous breakfast, or lunch so you will just skip a meal. Do not do that! Skipping a meal will not take away the fact that you stuffed your face and enjoyed yourself maybe a little too much. Then you are putting more time in there to slow down your metabolism, and aren’t we trying to speed that up?

So what should you be doing? Pack your day full of healthy meals and snacks.

 

Some snack ideas…

-1/2 Cup grapes w/ 1 low fat string cheese

-1/2 cup nonfat plain greek yogurt with 1/2 cup fresh berries –

sweeten with one packet Truvia or 1 tsp Agave

– 1-2 cups raw veggies (ie. red/orange pepper strips, baby

carrots, jicama) with 2 TBSP Hummus

– 12 Raw Almonds with a small apple

– 12 Raw Cashews with a small apple

– 1/2 Cup of shelled edamame

– 3-5 slices of lean low sodium turkey breast or roast beef

wrapped around a low fat string cheese

-1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese with 1/2 chopped tomato

season with sea salt and pepper

– 1 hardboiled egg with 8 baby carrots

If you over indulge at one meal pick a small healthy and snack in your next food time. You are going to indulge sometimes, and eat something you probably shouldn’t. You are not a robot! Keep on trucking and move forward. Knowing you can make a better choice next time!

I’m a farmer

Well welcoming chick number 2 or how Riley named her. (Calling it a her cause I don’t want another rooster. Did you know they crow all day long?? Seriously they do. I’m like hey asshole were awake. Being a farmer can be kind of fun!

Hatchling

So random post… Outside of being a mom, wife, fitness coach, all around awesome being. (Hahahaha I’m also an asshole. At least I can admit it!)

I decided last year when the hubster was on a fishing trip to get chickens. So now we are farmers hahaha. He now likes it but was not thrilled last year.

Anyway this morning look what I found in the coop…

Ahhhhhh!! Shit just got real. Seriously I’m not responsible enough for a day old chick. Just kidding. Its now in a box under a heat lamp in the living room and we have another about to hatch in a day or so! I’ll keep you all posted on this!

P90X3 Block 1

4 weeks of P90 X3 Done! I did have a set back and took a week off due to what my Dr believes to be a kidney infection. Random I know… So I took a week off to let my body recover and then guess what I did?

I got right back to it! It is ok to take time off. Just get back to it.

My thoughts… Although Tony Horton is a genius when it comes to writing a fitness program. Seriously, he is 55 when P90X3 was recorded and pretty much every workout kicks my ass. I can feel the difference in my balance and muscle definition. But He drives me insane. Hahaha sorry Tony but please shut up. I cannot stand the meowing and corny jokes.
So I am struggling with this workout. I do them, but I am really not enjoying it. Out of the is 4 weeks the one workout that I don’t feel this struggle is the warrior.
Do not let this deter you from giving the workout a chance. I am still attempting to finish it. This is just my honest opinion. Workouts are a challenge and making a difference. I just need some quite lol. Cross your fingers for me so that I can finish this bad boy. But I may be going back to the 21 Day fix/ Extreme soon.

Sucking

Ok! I suck! I have not blogged in over a week. I just don’t feel like I have much to say or what to write about.

Well I think thats also bullshit. If you lived in my head you would know all the shit I have to talk about. Although… It is probably not appropriate, most of the time. Like I am so glad people can not hear my thoughts. HAHAHA

I have been a mess this week. I am back to working out. Thank god! Finishing up with Block 1 of P90X3. I will be giving a review for this later.

Finally feeling better after a strong dose of antibiotics. I seemed to have a kidney infection. I have no idea how that happened.

People want to know how you find motivation to get your workouts in, my easy answer… You just fucking do it. Its not always there the motivation. in fact just this morning I wasted 28 minutes not wanting to do my workout. I put my big girl pants on and did it anyway.

It is the easiest thing in the world to fall off the fitness wagon. So I void falling off. I just do the workout, easy right?
